Explanation[edit | edit source]

In the original strip, Garfield was reading a note from "Ask a Dog", that says how many different kinds of dogs are there. Odie holds up two fingers and barks. Garfield says two good dogs and bad dogs.

The edit just leaves two.

I don't claim to be an expert on humor, but I'm fairly confident that my version of this strip is just plain funnier. Garfield's apathetic resignation to Odie's incorrect answer and Odie's smug self-assurance crack me up every time I re-read the strip.

P.S. Fellow grammar pedants may appreciate another small change I made to the original.

Original strip: 2018-09-12.
