Explanation[edit | edit source]

Jon's calling Garfield a baby boomer would be inaccurate; the most accepted definition of that generation places it in the rough timeframe of 1946 to 1964, and based on how the Garfield comic strip treats Garfield's birthdays, Garfield would fall into the subsequent Generation X (most accepted: 1965-1980). It is unknown whether Jon himself would fall into the baby boomer generation, as his own date of birth is unestablished; Jim Davis barely missed falling into the baby boomer generation, as his year of birth is commonly accepted to be the last year of the preceding Silent Generation (most accepted: 1928-1945).
