Explanation[edit | edit source]

Contrary to what the author's notes imply, it cannot be proven that there was an error in the original strip. The Brachyscome graminea, for example, is a daisy species that possesses mauve-pink or purple flowers and a yellow center; that species is native to Australia and New Zealand. Cleretum bellidiforme is another daisy species, this one native to South Africa, that can come in purple-flowered shades, although its center tends to be darker than other daisy species. Although potentially an example of accidentially-correct writing, the author of 4078: The "Daisy-Stomping Cat" Comic with an Actual Daisy agreed with this strip's author's diagnosis of a clear error and sought out to "correct" it by recoloring the flower to that of a more common daisy species.

The author writes:[edit | edit source]

Also, that's . . . that's not a daisy.

Original strips: 1995-08-12, 1995-08-16.
