Explanation[edit | edit source]

The author writes:[edit | edit source]

The crossed-out moon in the SRoMG strip I based this one on made me recall a different xkcd comic, one involving a moon-hater at a podium.

Original Square Root of Minus Garfield strip: 2019-05-30.

Original xkcd strip: 2013-11-15 [bad words].

Original strip: 1993-01-17.

Transcript[edit | edit source]

Screaming crowd {running from a giant Garfield}: XKCD!
Garfield {standing behind a podium, labelled with a "no Moon" logo}: Shoot for the moon.
Garfield: If you miss, shoot again.
Garfield: Keep shooting and never stop.
Garfield: Someday, one of us will destroy...
SFX: CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP {the cat audience applauds Garfield}
Garfield: ...that stupid skycircle right behind me.
