Explanation[edit | edit source]

It is unknown when the author observed the original strips on garfield.com; by the time the site was taken down roughly a month after this strip was first published, the material taken from the November 1989 original strip was still in the same state as depicted in this strip, but the material taken from the December 1989 original strip had been fixed (both strips have been preserved in those states on the Garfield wiki on Fandom). Other online archives have both strips fixed.

The author writes:[edit | edit source]

So, I saw a Garfield strip, on garfield.com, where one of the panels had lost most of its black lines. I thought this was a bit strange. Stranger still was that there was another one, but with two blunder panels. So I cut out the strange panels, and glued them together.

Original strips: 1989-11-19, 1989-12-03.
