Explanation[edit | edit source]
This strip pokes fun at the Square Root of Minus Garfield strip approval process.
The author writes:[edit | edit source]
Shaggy and Scooby had no idea what they were in for when they agreed to become SRoMG admins. They probably should not have let the Scooby Snacks do the talking.
Anyway, I watched the episode of Be Cool, Scooby-Doo! on which this trip was based, and I felt like this one scene could use the SRoMG treatment. This scene, to be exact*. And Scrappy finally has a decent job!
Also consider this a little tribute to the original Shaggy himself, Casey Kasem. (Speaking of voices, was it really a good idea to hire one half of Garfunkel and Oates as Velma Dinkley? I mean, really.)
Original Square Root of Minus Garfield strip: 2008-11-15.
Screencap featuring Scrappy is from this video.

Transcript[edit | edit source]
{The Mystery Inc. gang are discussing the Square Root of Minus Garfield buffer}
Fred Jones: Shaggy, Scooby, sort through the strip queue.
Norville "Shaggy" Rogers: You want us to go through that queue?
Fred: Yes.
Shaggy {across separate panels}: Whoa whoa whoa. Like, let's be totally be clear about this. You, Fred, want us, Shaggy and Scooby, to filter through a bunch of desecrated Garfield strips {Shaggy's slideshow shows a panel from the first SRoMG strip} all based on one joke? {He's referring to Garfield Minus Garfield.}
Fred: Well, I would probably word it differently, but...
Shaggy {displaying an ad for the webcomic, which depicts Garfield with a "√−"}: So, like, what you're saying is that two guys with no experience with this sort of thing... {next panel} Should look through piles of Photoshopped Garfields to see which ones make the cut and, like, which don't?
Fred: You could've gone through at least fifty by now.
Shaggy: We have Scrappy for that.
{Elsewhere, Scrappy-Doo is outside the Rejection Office, exhausted from stacking all of the rejected strips, one of which is merely a crudely-written note that says, "SRoMG rocks!" and another which does not even consist of anything. Poor, tormented Scrappy!}
Trivia[edit | edit source]
This strip's transcript was subject to mojibake errors in a later site recoding effort; the original transcript unaffected by mojibake is currently lost to the public due to this.
