Explanation[edit | edit source]

This strip takes the earlier 3036: Get Younger and rewords Jon's dialogue in the third panel into something more fitting of his 1978 self. As the entire presentation implies, it took two tries for the author to work in a reference to Jon's drawing board; both attempts are included in the presentation.

Despite references to Jon holding a job having grown rarer in official Garfield material over the years, as far as is known, Jon is officially still a cartoonist at least in the core continuity of the comic strips; the author's notes imply he has lost that job, something that has never been officially confirmed in the original canon.

This takes SRoMG #3036 and changes Jon's dialogue to something more like when he was a cartoonist. The first try, I ran out of space when trying to put in "drawing board", so it sounds like Jon simply finished a new drawing he wants to show Garfield:
