Explanation[edit | edit source]

In the original, Garfield guessed that five years from his guess would be the same thing, but hopefully with fresher coffee.

Thankfully (for us, not for him), the strip from five years after is a lot more interesting than Garfield predicted, as it seems he's become covered in snow, with a walkie-talkie-carrying scout snowflake leading the advance.

The third panel of the more recent of the two strips has replaced the third panel of the older strip.

The author writes:[edit | edit source]

Predicting the future is easy.

It is predicting the past that is hard, because that leaves you open to experimental disproof.

Original strips: 2003-11-25, 2008-11-25.

Transcript[edit | edit source]

Jon: What if we could see into the future, Garfield?
Jon: Even just five years into the future... What would we see?
{Garfield is outside, covered in snow}
Garfield: I had no idea they were that organized.
Snowflakes: Oorah!
