Explanation

This strip takes the original Garfield strip, which implied that the day Garfield first arrived at the Arbuckle residence was the last time there was ever leftover pizza present, and rewords Jon's line in the second panel to imply that he had been married prior to Garfield arriving and that his wife left that day never to return; official Garfield canon places Jon as unmarried, and wasn't in a steady relationship prior to a storyline in 2006.
