Explanation[edit | edit source]
This strip reverses the 2020-09-29 original Garfield strip's double espresso joke, in that the "negative espresso" depicted in this strip shrinks Garfield's eyes, doing so by swapping in eyes from the 1978-07-27 Garfield strip, as opposed to enlarging them. To further punctuate the joke, the strip's proportions have been blown up in comparison to that of the original Garfield strip.
The later 6137: Negative Espresso takes similar, but not identical, approaches to this strip.
