Explanation[edit | edit source]
This is the third installment of the Garfield Numerosity series, based on the Numerosity series from Sesame Street. This comic adapts the third film, which centers around the number 3. That film ended with the baker carrying 3 birthday cakes, but that scene isn't adapted. Here's each panel of the comic in order:
- 3 balls: This panel uses a panel from a comic (2021-08-22) where Garfield juggles 3 oranges, temporarily stopping for a nap when Jon attempts to take a photo of it. The oranges are slightly edited here so they look like normal balls.
- 3 peas: This panel uses the second panel of a comic (1979-07-18) where Garfield uses an icepick to eat peas. Most of the peas in the panel (including all of Jon's) are edited out, leaving only 3 that Garfield is picking up with the icepick.
- 3 crocodiles: This panel uses 3 copies of a crocodile cropped out of a comic (1983-12-11) where Garfield falls into the city sewers and finds one alongside a giant fish and a giant bird.
- 3 eggs: This panel uses an image of 3 eggs with Garfield's face and tail painted on them.
- 3 little pigs: This panel uses 3 images of Orson the Pig from U.S. Acres, a short-lived comic from the 80s that Jim Davis created and worked on alongside Garfield.
The author writes:[edit | edit source]
Based on a Numerosity segment from Sesame Street, it counts five different sets of features.
The three little pigs are actually three Orsons.
Original strips: 1979-07-18, 1983-12-11, 2021-08-22.
