In college, Jon "Carpface" Arbuckle was known as one of the best of the best amongst the cognoscenti. A pampered, rich playboy, he combined devilishly good looks and a rakish charm to become one of the big men on campus. Years later, upon becoming a major supporting character in a successful comic strip, playing straight man to Garfield and, occasionally, Wheezer, he did his best to cover up his past as the perfect-in-every-way Carpface, as it was simply not as funny as a cat-owning, socially awkward dork.

Original strips: 1990-04-02, 1990-04-27.

Caption: Jon Arbuckle, "Carpface"
{Wheezer looks pleased, Jon looks ashamed}
Garfield: This explains a lot
