This "strip", if you can even call it that, runs what appears to be an entirely transparent strip file; the author's notes explain homeopathic dilution methods, which when applied (and given the author's body of work) may very well have given a legitimate result of entirely-transparent when applied to the credited Garfield strip (this strip's file's size of 49 KB may indeed imply retained "memory"). The author's notes also compares this strip's apparent methodology to two other content-free "strips", #293 (whose "original Garfield strip" never existed) and #467 (which was itself an escalation of the Garfield Minus Garfield formula taken to the absolute extreme).

Here is the Garfield strip from 1994-04-23, diluted 4C. At one part in 100 million, the chance that your monitor will show even one pixel of the original strip is only slightly better than one in a thousand. However, while the image file is almost completely transparent, it still retains a "memory" of the strip, which can be detected by suitably sensitive software.
Compare with #467 ("Garfield Minus Absolutely Everything"), which is totally erased rather than merely diluted, and #293 ("i"), which was never there to begin with.
