No, that's taking too long; I'll just do this instead. I at least like the contrast between the greeting card company being on (ridiculous) pet-name basis with Jon, and not-even-referring-to-him-with-the-definite-article basis with Garfield. (I could have made that reciprocal as well, I suppose - but then it makes 'a cat' less distinctive word choice on the part of the greeting card co. and loses some of its impact I think)

Bonus strip: I also discovered that if you swap Jon's colour palette around, he almost always ends up looking like a much more present-day comic artist's depiction of themselves! The more things change, the more they stay the same, only now with more hair dye.
