Explanation[edit | edit source]

In this strip, Jon Arbuckle excitedly presents Garfield with a horseshoe, claiming it's lucky. However, Garfield counters with a sharp remark—he points out that there’s a horse with a limp standing at the door, visibly unhappy. As the realization sinks in, Jon drops the horseshoe and panics, while Garfield calmly wields a mug, unfazed.

The humor stems from the dark implication that Jon's lucky find may have directly caused the horse’s misfortune.
