Explanation[edit | edit source]

In this strip, Garfield believes Monday is finally over and tears off the previous day's page from his page-a-day calendar—only to discover that today is also Monday. He reacts with frustration, declaring that he’s going back to bed. In the second strip, Garfield repeats the action, but this time, he panics and scurries away, realizing that Monday refuses to end.

The author was inspired by a similar gag used in Garfield comics from July 22, 1986, and September 1, 2014. However, they swapped Garfield’s reactions from the original strips for comedic effect, making this version a playful twist on the original joke.

The author writes:[edit | edit source]

I saw the 2014-09-01 strip and it immediately reminded me of the first time Jim used this gag. For this "spot the difference", though, I thought it'd be funnier to swap Garfield's reactions around.

Original strips: 1986-07-22, 2014-09-01.
