Well, it's been a while since I've actually submitted anything here. Only a few weeks back did I actually start catching back up on the strips, all the way back from somewhere around strip #3000 (don't remember quite where I left off years ago), so it's been quite a journey to see where things developed since the late 2010s. Nine whole years (at the time of submitting this strip) since my last submission, and nine years with a lot going on in terms of new (and notably to many irritating) memes, references, etc. Quite a journey going through the over three thousand strip backlog I hadn't read. Worthwhile though, in my opinion. There's certainly gems to be found here (or should I say rupees?)
Speaking of references, one kind of reference I was surprised to find very little of (even using the site's search engine) was to The Legend of Zelda, and even more surprised that nobody (at the time of submitting this strip) had done this with this particular strip. Maybe people just overlooked it? Who knows, certainly not me! The original strip has another layer of significance to me though that's neither here nor there, but I figured it'd make for a nice return to the strip queue. Plus I'm curious to see how long it'll take to get a strip through these days, since (at the time of submitting this strip) the statistics say there's 0 strips in the buffer, which I know only counts the strips actually set up for publishing and not the total strips in the submission pile, but all the same it's curious to see SRoMG seemingly playing things so close to the edge.
That all being said, I'm not sure if this strip marks a return to any kind of more regular submission or if this was a one-off dipping of my toe back into a pool I hadn't swam in for years. I'm hoping for the former, but we'll have to see what my time and attention span allows for.
Original strip: 1997-03-28.
