Explanation[edit | edit source]

The author writes:[edit | edit source]

When I saw the Garfield on 2011-02-26. it reminded me of something... the semi-classic "Clams Got Legs" gag from B.C. back in the days when it was occasionally funny (although that particular gag never tickled me). So a mash-up of the two comics was unavoidable...

Original B.C. strip from 1967.

Original strip: 2011-02-26.

Transcript[edit | edit source]

{B.C. lies on beach near clam}
Fish #1 {being watched by Garfield}: I can't hold my breath any longer!
{Clam walks while B.C. watches}
Fish #1 {above bowl}: GASP!
B.C.: I saw that! I saw you run with legs! Clams got legs!
Garfield: Fish breathe!
Fish #1: Sorry.
Fish #2: Nice move, guppy gills.
B.C.: Clams got legs!
Clam: Now I have to kill him.
