Explanation[edit | edit source]
One of the biggest running gags in SROMG comes from the strip where Jon glues a blender to his face (2008-04-26). Strips where Jon has a blender glued to his face have become a frequent occurrence throughout SROMG, but this strip deconstructs the gag by addressing what happened after the strip. It would take a super strong glue to get the blender to stick to Jon's face that way it did in the original strip, and that would've likely made the blender impossible to remove. As such, Jon would likely have the blender stuck to his face for the rest of his life, and he would have to continue living as if the blender was never there.
To show this, the only edit made to the strip being used here (1993-06-30) is the inclusion of the blender stuck to Jon's face. Even though the blender is clearly there, neither Jon nor Garfield bother to address the fact, showing how desensitized they've become to the blender's permanent affixation to Jon's face. Interestingly, this strip was published over a decade before the original blender strip.

The strip where Jon has glued a blender to his face is fast becoming another meme around here. But, what happened afterward? He would have needed a pretty strong glue to get it to stick like that. That blender isn't going anywhere any time soon. I can only imagine that Jon had to live his life like normal... only with a blender stuck to his face. I don't know how Jon plans on getting a good night's sleep like that...
Original strips: 1993-06-30, 2008-04-26.
Transcript[edit | edit source]
Jon: {in bed, with a blender glued to his face} Garfield, for once I'd like a good night's sleep.
Garfield: Oh, all right.
Garfield: Here.
Jon: ...And the flares.
Garfield: You are no fun, you know that?
