Explanation[edit | edit source]

Every part of this is a reference to Stephen King's It. Breaking down the specific references by panel:

  • Binky's appearance in the first panel is a reference to the fact that one of It's forms (and perhaps its most famous) is the monstrous clown Pennywise. The line he says is a quote from It.
  • The turtle in the second panel is meant to be Maturin, a being that appears as a giant turtle and helps the protagonists perform the ritual of Chüd - the only way It can be defeated.
  • When they do face off, It takes the form of a giant spider - humorously downsized in this version (note Garfield's unimpressed "Sure"). His line is also directly taken from It.
  • Finally, the title is yet another It quote (although slightly altered - it was originally "Kiss me, fat boy!")

The author writes:[edit | edit source]

Something I came up with after reading It by Stephen King; people who haven't read the book may not get this. It got a fairly good respsonse [sic] when I posted it on my Tumblr, so I thought why not submit it here?
