Explanation[edit | edit source]

In the original Garfield strip, Jon placed a bowl of soup on a table, then called Garfield to dinner, Garfield came to dinner and noticed a bowl of soup, he looked shocked, then he looked angry, and started yelling soup. Jon told Garfield it's cream of lasagna. Garfield took out a spoon while thinking of soup.

The author mixed these strips together to make this strip. Jon notices a bowl of soup on a table, and called Garfield to dinner. Jon asked Garfield if it was soup. Garfield then yelled, "NO SOUP FOR YOU!"

This was based on this famous Seinfield episode called "The Soup Nazi" where Yev Kassem asked for soup and George yelled "No soup for you!"
