Explanation[edit | edit source]

This one is somewhat subtle. In the original, Jon pulls out three bills to pay for Garfield and himself to get tickets to see the sideshow, when tickets are clearly one dollar each. The only way he'd need that third bill is if they were all a weird denomination, such as two-thirds of a dollar. This strip fixes that by having Jon pull out the correct number of bills to begin with, thus saving the ticketmaster from having to hand him back a bill he just handed her.

The author suggests that there are other ways to fix this strip. Perhaps we'll see them in the future.

Presumably, the "dinosaur" he found in this strip was the mention of the dinosaur boy.

The author writes:[edit | edit source]

I was looking for "dinosaur"s. I found this.

Ever notice how Jon tries to pay for two $1 tickets... with three bills? What, are they 66.6...-cent bills? "Save your money," indeed; don't pay a dollar more than the asking price!

There are, of course, other ways to fix this... but I leave them to others.

Original strip: 1985-08-11.
