Explanation[edit | edit source]

The original strip had Jon saying the sun was shining and the air was fresh, and that it was therefore not an inside day, prompting Garfield to ask if he was implying movement. Square Root of Minus Garfield strip #1871 mixed several of those elements up, to humorously surreal effect. This strip latches on to one of the panels and makes it (seem to) happen by putting an image of the sun in the clearly indoor setting. However, as neither Jon nor Garfield appear to be burnt up, the title comes into play; it is likely that Jon is hallucinating the sun's presence inside the house. In the comments, the author laments that this was a lot funnier when he was making it at 3AM.

The author writes:[edit | edit source]

How did this strip come to be? Well, I was very tired one night at about 3am, and saw this strip. It was a lot funnier then. I then noticed that Jon said the sun was inside... So I granted that wish.

They may or may not be burnt to a crisp in any given second that is upcoming.
