Explanation[edit | edit source]

In the original Garfield strip, Garfield danced on -- and fell off -- a fence, which he claims was waxed (specifically to end his performance, one would assume).

Here, he's dancing on the word "LYRICAL". Again, he falls. This time, however, he implicitly questions whether the culprit "waxed lyrical" (an expression referring to people expressing themselves in a manner akin to song singing, or expressive of emotion). The author considers the possibility of it being a sort-of sequel to "Absolutely Nothing", in which Garfield falls off a mass of nothing that was inexplicably waxed.

The "PunGuard" alert message was originally used in Irregular Webcomic!, as part of a sort of feghoot involving Shakespeare having a conflict on whether he should head to office B on level 2 (there, implicitly ending with "2B, or not 2B, that is the question").

The author writes:[edit | edit source]

It could be a sort-of sequel to #2294.

Original strip: 1982-03-27.

Original Irregular Webcomic!: 2005-09-19.
