Explanation[edit | edit source]

A Mirror Universe is primarily defined as one in which all characters have the opposite morality. Because of the perception of at least certain types of beards, male characters who are evil in such a universe often have those kinds of beards.

In the Next Generation episode "Darmok", the crew encounters a race of aliens who all speak completely in allusions to their history and mythology, so if you don't already know it, their statements like "Darmok and Jalad at Tanagra" can be quite impenetrable, even with the Universal Translator. (Incidentally, "when the rain fell" appears nowhere in the episode; the closest phrase is "Shaka, when the walls fell.")

Picard and the farmer are here played by Jon's father and brother.

The author writes:[edit | edit source]

Sadly Star Trek TNG never ventured into the Mirror Universe, so I addressed this problem.

In the Mirror Universe, Picard stayed at the family vineyards in France, and never went INto SPACE! As a result his Enterprise is the family business. Welcome to the exciting episode of... Mirror Darmok!

Garfield is here because... Everything Is Better With Garfield! Also note that Picard has a goatee but it cannot be seen here.
