Explanation[edit | edit source]

The original Garfield comic had these six panels right side up and a close up of Garfield's face right side up. Garfield made several faces, right side up. Jon says A-HEM because he wants the spoon back for the soup because he is eating soup and crackers.

This edit corrects the orientation of Garfield's face, as the image seen in a spoon would indeed be flipped, as stated in the author's note. The note goes on to question Jim Davis' experience with looking at his own image in a spoon, as his art seems to suggest that he didn't know this.

The author writes:[edit | edit source]

The side of the spoon Garfield is looking at should be viewing his face upside down. Had Jim never looked into a spoon at the time?

Original strip: 1994-08-14.
