Explanation[edit | edit source]

As the title of the strip implies, Garfield is shown to be finally losing it after decades of staleness. As the author's notes explain, this is theoretically someone on the staff actually putting effort in this strip in 2053 - an admission of how stale the strip has become.

The author writes[edit | edit source]

I'd like to think of this of someone in the Paws staff in 2053, decided to make a strip about how much Garfield missed his past experiences, oh by the way, I drew the entire strip and used the Garfield font.

Original strip: 2013-01-17.

Original Square Root of Minus Garfield strip: 2013-06-21.

Transcript[edit | edit source]

Garfield: I miss the adventure I went through, I miss the old design, I miss Jim, I miss the clever punchline.
Garfield: I miss Lyman, I miss originality, I miss the strip that wasn't lazy, I miss 1-week storyline.
{Garfield sobs}
Garfield: WHY HAVEN'T THEY END THE STRIP ALREADY!!??
