Explanation[edit | edit source]

Back in #2425, the author redrew the first two Garfield comics. The first reaction was the hope that it was intentionally bad; the second was evidence that it was intentional. The author semi-blamed the program used. Another commentor called it "an interesting awful", and "worth including". Finally, the author foreshadowed this comic.

Here, the author transposed the "G" and "R" in Garfield's name, and blacked out the characters; while it is described as scribbling over the characters, it looks more like a filled polygon shape was employed.

The author writes:[edit | edit source]

Because of the reactions from my last comic, I decided to make a comic that is less terribly drawn, by using the original comic and scribbling over it! I hope you enjoy this one more than you enjoyed the previous one.

I also attempted to move around the letters in the comic. This has surprisingly good results.

Original strip: 2008-11-15.

Transcript[edit | edit source]

Jon {obscured by polygon}: Ragfield, all I can think of is Liz...
Jon: I can't think about anything else.
Ragfield {obscured by polygon}: I know what you mean...
Ragfield: I can't get my mind off that ham in the fridge
Caption: Ragfield: hiding characters since the start of the comic

Trivia[edit | edit source]

Although this strip's title is lengthy in its own right, Square Root of Minus Garfield's Archive page lists the "shortening ellipsis" (a string formatted ". . ."), common to very lengthy titles, as this strip's entire title.
