Explanation[edit | edit source]

This edit intertwines three different strips, each of which were within the same story arc:

  • In the first strip, Jon and Garfield both begin laughing hysterically after the former asks the latter if he saved room for dessert.
  • In the second, they are joined by the waiter after a brief pause.
  • In the third, Jon and Garfield have returned home, and the latter is reprimanded for eating another table's food.

Here, the first two strips are mashed together, both relatively unchanged. The third strip, however, only has the final panel present, and Jon's dialogue is rewritten to have him state that they were barred from the restaurant for life for their outburst.

The unusually long title is a jab at The Big Bang Theory, which, despite critical acclaim, has also seen derision for, among other things, its perceived lack of humor in general.

The author writes[edit | edit source]

I made this while in a bad mood, if you couldn't tell.

Original strips: 2006-03-23, 2006-03-24, 2006-03-25.

Transcript[edit | edit source]

{Jon and Garfield are at a restaurant; their plates are empty, Garfield's cheeks are stuffed with food}
Jon: So, Garfield, did you save room for dessert?
{Jon and Garfield look at each other in wide-eyed shock, because apparently that one question was the most mind-breaking, Earth-shattering question of all time}
{Jon and Garfield start violently laughing, because either that one question was the funniest thing ever of all time, or comedy is now dead}
{Suddenly, waiter}
{The waiter looks at them while Jon and Garfield have stupid grins on their faces, as if prodding the waiter to take part in their nonsense}
{Cut to Jon and Garfield back at home, Jon looking depressed}
Jon: I still say being banned for life because of that was excessive.
{Count your lucky stars I chose to go soft on you guys in this strip, Jon. The alternate ending sees you and Garfield getting arrested.}
