Explanation[edit | edit source]

In the original, Jon said his sports injury was acting up. At Garfield's unchanging stare, he defended the status of crossword puzzles as a sport, at which point, Garfield thought something snarky and walked away. Here, Jon and Garfield have been replaced respectively by Natsuki and Yuri, characters in Doki Doki Literature Club.

Doki Doki Literature Club is a free visual novel in which you play a student at a high school whose best friend convinces him to check out the literature club to which she belongs, and the cute girls there convince him to join. Two of the members are Natsuki and Yuri. Natsuki, the pink-haired girl, contends that manga, that is, Japanese comics and graphic novels, count as literature, while Yuri, the purple-haired girl, isn't convinced. Hence, the dialogue changes in this edit. This particular change causes a bit of a problem, however, which the author's note points out.

(NOTE: Potential players/readers of Doki Doki Literature Club should heed the warning it gives and attempt to determine for themselves if DDLC is appropriate for themselves.)

The author writes:[edit | edit source]

The thing is: what the heck could a "literature injury" be?

Original strip: 2017-10-19.
