Explanation[edit | edit source]

In the original, Odie's problem was fleas, and then, that the one collar wasn't strong enough to keep them away. Here, there are no fleas, so Garfield says Odie has a design problem, and corrects it first by putting one collar on him, then five more on various parts.

The title is a reference to the design trope Too Many Belts; Garfield's mention of "Nomura" is a reference to Tetsuya Nomura, who is famous in video game circles for putting functionally superfluous belts on characters he designs.

Transcript[edit | edit source]

{Garfield is holding a flea collar}
Garfield: You have a pretty grim design problem there, Odie
{He puts it on Odie, and examines his work critically}
Garfield: Hmm, that's not Nomura enough
{At another part of the ledge, Jon turns his head, and is surprised to see Odie hopping along with not only a collar around his neck, but around his ears, his snout, his tongue, his legs, and two around his torso}
