Explanation[edit | edit source]

In the original, Garfield asks, "How is a Monday morning different from other mornings?" In this edit, Garfield asks a rough translation of the same into Hebrew, likely as a parody of the Four Questions of a Passover seder.

The author writes:[edit | edit source]

Why, on this morning, did he peanut butter the bread before he toasted it?

I probably made an error somewhere, but if you can tell that, you probably know what I was going for.

Original strip: 1990-06-11, 1990-06-13.

Transcript[edit | edit source]

{Garfield waits by the toaster}
Garfield: Ma nishtana haboker yom sheni mikol habekarim?
{Two slices of bread, covered in a brown, sticky substance, eject from the toaster, eliciting only the slightest eye movement from Garfield}
SFX: BLUT!
{The toast dangles over the side of the toaster by the sticky substance, and a small wiggle of black smoke can be seen above}
Garfield: Other mornings, I would have peanut buttered the bread after I toasted it
