Explanation[edit | edit source]

This strip replaces the donut from the original Garfield strip with what is openly stated to be a bottle of poison; interestingly, the cookie retained from the original strip could be interpreted as either chocolate chip or raisin, both of which would also be poisonous to a cat such as Garfield. A fourth panel is added which apparently shows the initial effects of Garfield consuming both the cookie and the entire bottle of poison.

The author's notes comically misses the point, focusing specifically on the glass that the bottle of poison is made of; while the glass is unlikely to be good for Garfield's system, he is more likely to survive that than either the cookie or the poison proper.

The author writes:[edit | edit source]

That can't be healthy. I mean, eating an entire bottle made of glass? Geez, Garfield!

Original strip: 2020-04-22.
