Explanation[edit | edit source]

The author's notes explain the setup behind what became this strip; this strip has the effect of Garfield appearing to be the one to fill the MacPhersons' cloud storage with almost 60,000 pictures of his food. In the original strips, Garfield did indeed take a lot of pictures of his food, but they were not uploaded to a cloud server, Jon viewed them on the photo album of the phone's local storage, while the MacPhersons' cloud storage was filled with many pictures of their children (from oldest to youngest: Zoe, Hammie, Wren) and the rest of that strip showed a selection of those photos.

The author apparently didn't know enough of Baby Blues lore to know that the depicted characters from that strip were actually named; that strip depicts the MacPherson family, with the father's name being Darryl and the mother's name being Wanda.

The author writes:[edit | edit source]

In my hometown's Sunday newspaper, Garfield is printed vertically down the right edge of the first page of the comics section, in such a way that the last few panels run right beside Baby Blues. On this particular day, the juxtaposition of the respective strips' final panels was too perfect not to share.

Transcript[edit | edit source]

{The last panel of a Baby Blues strip, showing the father and mother from that comic sitting on a couch}
Father {looking at a laptop}: That's weird, our cloud storage is suddenly full.
Mother {looking at a phone}: Fifty-nine thousand, three hundred nineteen photos??
{The last panel of a Garfield strip, featuring Jon looking at a phone and seeing numerous seemingly-identical photos of Garfield's food}

Trivia[edit | edit source]

This strip does not include a link to the original Baby Blues strip; even if it had, such a link at the time of submission would have likely been to Comics Kingdom, which no longer offers that feature and paywalled access to the exact strip in question during the period of time it did offer that strip (iToons #440: You've been cursed! You can't blow your bubble wand! also showed a similar situation from a similar timeframe). Baby Blues has since become available on GoComics after this strip's publication; the strip in question is available here.
