Explanation[edit | edit source]

This "strip", if you can call it that, implies to not actually have been created by the credited author as presented, and certainly did not source from the credited original Garfield strip. The editor's note within the author's notes implies circumstances that led to the original imagery, if it ever actually existed, to be lost (one circumstance includes a violation of the current sixth guideline on the Square Root of Minus Garfield "Submit" page), yet also implied there were instructions to allow the reader to determine the nature of the edit for themselves and thus the Square Root of Minus Garfield top dogs ran the strip anyway.

The author's subsequent 4513: Garfield Minus Telepathy would call out the Square Root of Minus Garfield top dogs for actually running this "strip", claiming a number of "faults" with it; due to the nature of how this "strip" ran, it is unknown whether those claims are accurate.

4562: I Made Andy Warhol Upset would imply that that strip was what this "strip" was intended to be; it is unknown if that claim is accurate, although the credited original Garfield strip date matches to lend credence to the claim.

The author writes:[edit | edit source]

The second I saw this strip I knew what I had to do.

[This strip was submitted in March 2015, a couple of days after the original Garfield strip ran. The submission email contained an external link to the strip image, rather than an attachment. Unfortunately, by the time I read the email, the link had gone dead, and so I am unable to provide the strip image here. However, the description the submitter included implies it should be possible for the reader to quickly determine the nature of the edit by themselves, so I have decided to run it anyway. -Ed]

Original strip: 2015-03-05.
