Explanation[edit | edit source]

This strip flips the legal lingo and Jim Davis's credit into the comic proper, and the lines of the comic proper over to where the legal lingo and Jim Davis's credit would normally go. Here, panel 1 and the space between the first two panels switched places; panel 2 and the space between the last two panels switched places; the elements originally found within panel 3 switched places.

As this strip predated the site recoding effort that ended up causing mojibake errors on a sizable number of strips, the transcript getting hit by a mojibake error causes it to no longer match the strip exactly. Comparing the strip proper to the transcript implies this would be one of the easier mojibake fixes out there.

The author writes:[edit | edit source]

Probably the least uninteresting thing about this edit are the questions that arise:

  • What now counts as a line I have to transcribe? (I went with all to be sure.)
  • Does emphasizing the copyright change anything about the legality of making edits to Garfield strips? (I'm very much not a lawyer.)

Original strip: 2018-10-05.

Text at bottom left of panel three: Never mind

Trivia[edit | edit source]

This strip's transcript was hit by a mojibake error in a later site recoding effort; the original transcript unaffected by mojibake is currently lost to the public due to this, although this would theoretically be a very easy fix based on what the strip proper shows.
