Explanation[edit | edit source]

The author writes:[edit | edit source]

This is based on the classic Marx Brothers comedy Monkey Business, where they play stowaways on an ocean liner. In order to get off the ship, they each pretend to be a famous actor, Maurice Chevalier, and sing a song of his to "prove" their "identity". Harpo, who is mute, pulls this off by hiding a record player behind his back, similar to a certain striped cat years later...

Original strip: 1985-06-30.
