Explanation[edit | edit source]

This strip riffs the "Garfield in 2053" formula; the author's notes explain the general premise of the strip. A single Peanuts panel was duplicated three times, then the 2013-01-17 Garfield dialogue was dropped into the ensuing panels.

The use of a wholesale Garfield script is presumably the reason why this strip was submitted to Square Root of Minus Garfield instead of iToons--too much was derived from Garfield to make the strip suitable for iToons standards.

The original Peanuts strip credited is a rerun that reran on the stated date; if the GoComics archives are indeed accurate as to the strip that reran on the stated date, the strip in question first ran on 1972-02-06.

The author writes:[edit | edit source]

Alternate version of strip #1494 from a far more bleak universe where Jim Davis's business sense rubbed off on Charles Schulz.

Original Peanuts strip: 2002-02-10.

Original strip: 2013-01-17.
