Explanation[edit | edit source]

The author writes:[edit | edit source]

Jon is a sick, twisted man, at his core. He lives a life of constant messiness, which wears down his girlfriend and his cat, and gives his house mice. Lots of them. And then his cat, worn down, cannot chase these mice. So Jon gets angry at his cat for not solving a problem that Jon himself created..

Sure, perhaps at first, Garfield embraced this lifestyle of being a bachelor, baby, as we saw in #989, but the life of being a bachelor, baby slowly ate away at Garfield from the inside, finally spilling out in 2014-06-06 before finally the previously admired parts of being a bachelor, baby began to become monotonous and dreary, as we saw in #4052. This is the logical conclusion - a world where Garfield does not want to be a bachelor, baby and is trying desperately to get Jon to marry Liz. But he doesn't. He thrives on being a bachelor, baby even at the cost of everyone he loves. It's truly shocking and depraved.
