So that's the memetic panel, huh? That's cartoony but, how could Garfield possibly get thrown out of the window like a solid object such as a vase and etc.? So how's about we retcon it into just a dream Garfield has? First, I've removed the filler panel with Garfield, Odie, Jon and Lyman, and expanded the last panel where Garfield is thrown out of the window and edited the last panel of the May 17, 1987 strip into it. Maybe it might be seen as a bit of low effort in MS Paint but at least I've tried as best as I could. I also modified the dialogue from that panel a bit.

Original strips: 1981-03-29, 1987-05-17.

Transcript[edit | edit source]

{Jon is wearing blue clothes, with a purple hat and a tie}
Jon: I'm going out, Garfield. The women will be hysterical over me
Garfield: That's outfit hysterical
Jon: What do you think of my attire?
Garfield: It could use some alteration
Garfield: Let's tuck that tie in and add some vents to the sleeves
{Garfield tucks Jon's tie into his mouth and claws Jon's sleeves on one of his arms}
Garfield: A smart cat knows just how far to go without crossing over the line
Garfield: Perhaps a more rakish tilt to the hat
{Garfield tilts Jon's hat}
{Enraged, Jon throws Garfield out of the window and then POOF! the scene cuts to Garfield lying in his bed}
Garfield: The only thing about living a month is the great dreams
