Made by: really cool bird

Explanation[edit | edit source]

The original strip involved Hank invoking the "cost an arm and a leg" bit, but without having lost any visible limbs and the stated dialogue stopping after four limbs (an arm and three legs); an ellipsis was present there to imply an off-panel continuation of the dialogue. This remix strips Hank of all of his limbs, and extends the dialogue to visibly cover all eight of a spider's limbs (an arm and seven legs).

The author writes:[edit | edit source]

Found this one while reading through the forums and felt thoroughly disappointed by its inaccuracy. Took the joke to its extreme.

Hope the bouquet was worth it.

Original strip: 2008-02-15.

Transcript[edit | edit source]

Spider: What did you get your wife for Valentine's Day, Hank?
Hank: A bouquet of dead gnats
Spider: Wow, that must have cost you plenty!
Hank: Yeah, it did
Hank: It cost me an arm and a leg, and a leg, and a leg, and a leg, and a leg, and a leg, and a leg
{Hank has no legs}

Trivia[edit | edit source]

The author's notes initially had the word "accuracy" at the end of the initial sentence instead of the intended word; this has since been fixed.
