The author writes:[edit | edit source]

From SRoMG #559 "Pietfield":

The program assumes ASCII, and that out(char) will output only the 8 lowest bits; if it outputs, say, Unicode codepoints, you'd get "G<TELEGU[sic] LETTER VOCALIC LL>rfi<TIFINAGH LETTER YAZZ>ld" out.

It's pronounced /ˈɡl̩ːɹ.fi.zˤld/.

Original strip: 2022-10-09.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • The transcript was initially incomplete, as it initially ended at the start of describing the second panel due to the system being broken by a music note emoji as included by the author; the author's note also misrendered the intended output of the Unicode codepoints to the point where it read "Grfild". Apart from the emoji in the submitted transcript, which was dropped in transition as the site's transcript system does not support emojis (even though it could have been worked around with a Unicode character, ♪), both issues have since been fixed.
  • The subsequent strip would also see its transcript broken by an emoji as well. The two strips' combined incidents would be lampooned and exaggerated in iToons #749: Emoji of the Ci--.
