Explanation[edit | edit source]

This strip uses the "constantly changing"/"pudding pops" running gag to make reference to historical figure Pope Linus.

The author stated that this was their first Square Root of Minus Garfield strip to be made; the fact that this strip was the author's last one to date to run chronologically, combined with the timeframe of their first strip to run, suggests that this strip was one of the thirty-two strips part of the running gag to be submitted while 625: Garfield Skynet Garfield: Judgment Day was in the strip buffer, and thus became subject to the ensuing "slow lane" first announced in 700: We Needed Some Change.

The author writes:[edit | edit source]

That's meant to be Pope Linus, who was the second, immediately after Peter. I don't know why no one else has done this. Sorry it's not very well done; this is my first SRoMG strip.
