Explanation[edit | edit source]
This strip is similar to 2245: Garfield's Actual Theme Song, which referenced "Ready to Party" (the second theme to Garfield and Friends), in that this one references the show's first theme, "Friends are There". Garfield's first two lines are rewritten to have him sing the first two verses of the song. (The third and final theme would later be referenced in a similar fashion by two subsequent strips, 6087: Garfield's other other theme song and 6088: Garfield's rap theme song.)
The author notes mentioning "both versions of the theme song" reflects the rap theme being hated by both fans of the show and the show's crew, as it only ever aired in first-run broadcasts of the show's seventh and final season. International broadcasts, some US reruns (which used the international masters), DVD releases (which also used the international masters), and high-definition remasters all use "Ready to Party" instead.

I saw SRoMG #2245 and I quite liked it, so I decided to do my own edit of the comic with the original theme song of Garfield and Friends. Both versions of the theme song are great, and I wanted them to both be represented here.
