Explanation[edit | edit source]

This strip essentially takes the premise of 2245: Garfield's Actual Theme Song (which involved the second theme to Garfield and Friends, "Ready to Party") and applies the lyrics of the first theme to Garfield and Friends, "Friends are There", to the first two panels, to essentially serve as a counterpart strip to #2245.

This strip's author's notes' invoking of the term "both versions of the theme song" clearly invokes the Fanon Discontinuity trope on the third theme to Garfield and Friends; in this instance, the invocation of fanon discontinuity follows up on invocation of Canon Discontinuty, as the third theme only ever aired with domestic broadcasts of the seventh season of Garfield and Friends, with international broadcasts, home video releases, and the high-definition remastered release all using "Ready to Party" alongside season seven.

The author writes:[edit | edit source]

I saw SRoMG #2245 and I quite liked it, so I decided to do my own edit of the comic with the original theme song of Garfield and Friends. Both versions of the theme song are great, and I wanted them to both be represented here.

Original strip: 2015-03-18.
