Explanation[edit | edit source]

The Author's Note does most of the explanation here: The original strip had Jon attempting to cut down a Christmas Tree, and cutting down a Telephone Pole instead; here, the reversed punchline is that Jon went out, intending to cut down a Telephone Pole (presumably, as a stupid prank) and instead cut down somebody else's Christmas Tree.

Transcript[edit | edit source]

{Garfield and Jon are standing outside in the snow. Jon is holding a chainsaw.}
Jon: I thought it would be fun.
Jon: Outdoors... Cutting down our own telephone pole...
Garfield: That was a Christmas Tree.
Jon: We should leave now....

The author writes:[edit | edit source]

This particular strip, when remixed, could go really d a r k really easily. So instead I did a really stupid reversed punchline instead.

Discussion Question: Is something this stupid better or worse than a median quality Pudding Pops remix?

Original strip: 2012-12-01.

Notes[edit | edit source]

Lubaf was not the only one to take inspiration from this particular original strip; see 1313 for a strip using the same original.
