Explanation[edit | edit source]

The author writes:[edit | edit source]

I love OK KO, and I always think about how Elodie's name contains Odie's name. She's an archer, so I decided to draw her outfit on Garfield while he's shooting an arrow.

Original strips: 1998-05-01, 2001-12-03.

Transcript[edit | edit source]

Jon: Where's Elodie? {Garfield is dressed as the character Elodie from the cartoon OK K.O.! Let's Be Heroes, and has shot an arrow from a bow}
SFX: TWANG ♪ THOT!

Trivia[edit | edit source]

The transcript got hit with a mojibake error after a later site recoding effort; the original transcript unaffected by mojibake are currently lost as a result.

  • The mojibake in the transcript corresponds to a musical note, an eighth-note specifically, in the actual strip. This may imply that the mojibake was originally either a Unicode character for the eighth note, ♪, or an emoji to the same effect. Emojis after said later site recoding effort has been known to cause problems with transcripts and author's notes; indeed, incidents with the transcripts for 5301: Gౡrfiⵥld and 5302: Garfward Jonbles from after the site recoding effort revealed the current site code system does not support emojis, and the former of those two strips' problematic emojis also corresponded to a musical eighth-note. If the mojibake in this strip was indeed originally an emoji, it could be worked around with the Unicode character in question; if the mojibake was originally the Unicode character, it is directly fixable.
  • This strip is the most recent one to have been hit by a mojibake error to date.
